Baltic Book Art Biennale is a non-profit international artistic exhibition that is held in St. Petersburg once in two years. It is organized by St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Book Union and the Union of Artist. Biennale opens for the first time in 2014 - the year of the famous National Library of Russia anniversary (it's doors were opened 200 years ago). The exhibition will take place in the National Library Hall, the Hall of Moskovsky District and in other cultural places of St. Petersburg from April till July 2014. The main Opening day is the 23rd of April - the World Book and Copyright Day.
Artists who work on books or are interested in creating something book-oriented are invited to participate. The exhibition will present works by Baltic artists such as bibliopegy, Artist’s Book and installations, photography, video-art, performance about books. The theme of the 1st Book Art Biennale is Alexander Pushkin’s heritage. 2014 is the year of Pushkin’s 215 birthday anniversary and he is considered a literary symbol of St. Petersburg, the one who inspired generations of artists.
Participant questionnaire should be filled and sent to us before the 1st of April. Complete works in the following categories: Artist’s Book, installation, photography, video-art, painting and sculpture should be delivered to the Moskovsky District Exhibition Hall (Chernyshevskogo sq., 6) on the 17th of April or should be handed over to the curators earlier. Works in the categories Bibliopegy and Illustration are accepted on the 21st of April at the National Library Mail Exhibition Hall (Moskovsky pr., 165).
